Rick  Schwendenmann

Richard “Rick” Schwendenmann, age 67 passed away on November 4, 2017.


He is survived by his wife, of 32 years, Gwen Dyc-Schwendenmann. Rick also leaves a dear daughter, Heather Schwendenmann, and five living brothers and sisters, one brother-in-law and one sister predeceased him in death. Additionally, he leaves many nieces and nephews. Rick was a polio survivor and, as such, was a board member, of the Michigan Polio Network, Inc., a statewide organization promoting awareness of both polio and the late health effects of having had polio.


He was interested in photography, technology, nature, assisting his church, and cooking.  He enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of computers and all related equipment, electronics, phones, televisions, etc. with anyone who needed guidance or advice, and be became recognized as the ex-pert that everyone consulted. 


Rick was a very active member of the South-east Michigan Post-Polio Support group. He and his wife, Gwen, actively worked to help new members learn about many aspects of having had polio, including any helpful assistive devices or equipment they might need. Rick was a real asset to this group and his passing will be a tremendous loss for all of them. Rick was retired from United Airlines and was a reservation expert. He also was an active member of the United Airlines retirees group.
